The corrupted #

The Corrupted are individuals who have merged with a shard of the Prime Evil, granting them extraordinary power—alongside a terrible burden.Chapters themselves are comprised only of the Corrupted.

The Curse of the beast within #

A decade after merging, the Shard’s influence begins to twist the Warden’s flesh and spirit. Claws, fangs, changes in the voice, dreams of hunger—these are the first signs. If nothing is done, the Warden eventually becomes a full creature of the Shard: powerful, mindless, and predatory.

Such fallen Wardens are called The Broken, and they are hunted relentlessly by their former brothers and sisters.

The Order, however, sells a secret ritual—the Ceremony of Stilling—which halts the transformation. Yet its price is steep: coin, blood, and loyalty. Even then, using too much power hastens the beast’s return.

The Broken #

The broken are brothers that have fallen to the beast within and their mind is gone. Only feral violence exists to all living and all creation. Each broken has mutated uniquely and no one knows the danger he poses.

The Ceremony of Stilling #

The ceremony is a ritual that many brothers and sisters from the chapter of Unity help with. The ritual is a complex one that blesses an alchemichal compound with divine essence and needs both a darks gods blessing and a holy ones constituting the master of high mysteries essential to its completion. Then a warden is injected with the blessed compound and endures minutes of agony that prolong the more he has fallen into the beast making injecting the compound lethal after many years. Some have resisted way longer than te should and some expired quickly.
